A foreigner in Montenegro may work on the basis of a temporary residence and work permit or a certificate of registration of work.
He can work only on jobs for which he has been issued a temporary residence and work permit or a certificate of registration of work, and only with the employer who employs him.
Temporary residence and work permit can be issued for:
Employment of a foreigner (issued with a validity period of 1 year and can be extended up to 2 years)
Seasonal employment of foreigners (with a validity period of up to 6 months for a period of 1 year, with the exception that it can be extended for another 2 months)
The work of a seconded worker
a) Provision of contracted services (issued with a validity period of up to 1 year and may be extended until the completion of contracted services, for a maximum of 2 years)
b) Movement of persons within a foreign company (issued for up to 1 year, can be extended to 2 years)
On the basis of the issued work registration certificate, foreigners can stay and work in Montenegro for up to 90 days, for a period of 1 year.
